Bicyclist injured in Evansville auto accident

A bicyclist was hospitalized after an Evansville auto accident Monday, according to the Evansville Courier & Press.

An SUV struck the car accident victim as he was pedaling northbound in the southbound lanes of a road just before 6 p.m.

The woman who caused the Indiana auto accident told police she took a right turn at a red light and didn’t see the bicyclist, who was knocked off his bicycle.

Kentucky nursing home neglect and abuse bill on the table

The Kentuckians for Nursing Home Reform is trying to push a bill that would force nursing homes to increase staff numbers in the hopes that it would battle nursing home neglect and abuse, according to The Courier-Journal.

Currently, the law states on that a “sufficient” number of staff be present to adequately care for residents, however the law is not specific on what is meant by “sufficient.” The group hopes to battle Kentucky nursing home abuse and neglect by having a law passed that would require one nurse per 21 residents during the day, one per 29 during the evenings, and one per 42 residents overnight. The aide to resident ratio would also be increased.
